The service on the ANA flight was excellent although I'm not sure how much any of us really experienced. The lack of sleep caught up with us during this 5 hour flight to Guangzhou.
And still with the arm rest occupation.
After an uneventful flight, we landed into Guangzhou. The airport is enormous. Elise is getting a lot of attention as many stare and smile at her. Luckily I don't believe she is aware of it. We seem to be treated even nicer because she is with us - for instance a customs officer invited us to an expedited lane.
We met a staff member from the Pullman (the airport hotel) who walked us through the hotel and across the street. The hotel is very nice.
They said because of high occupancy, we were upgraded to a suite. We appreciate the extra room and wish this could be our room for our entire visit, but we leave on Sunday for Nanning.
The only complaint is an odor in the room. Smoke. They are so kind, they even leave the matches out and ready for you. So considerate, especially with a small child.
Derek was excited to get to watch the Patriots/Chiefs playoff game at 5:30 am this morning. This is in stark contrast to our previous trip where the only thing on tv in english was CNN and James Bond movies (the original ones).
We had a nice buffet breakfast with lots of western food options. We'll hang out here until we walk over the airport for the afternoon flight to Nanning. So far so good. Elise is doing very well under the circumstances but is still very odd to not have Regan and Brett with us. We look forward to meeting Drew tomorrow. Kind of feels like the "calm before the storm." :)
